Australian Geographic Society is conducting a fundraising & awareness campaign for May & June in support of Australia’s second most threatened turtles, the elusive Mary River turtle (Elusor macrurus) which evaded scientists till early 1990’s despite being one of Australia’s largest freshwater turtles. The funds will help the turtle conservation project of Tiaro & District Landcare Group and support further research being conducted in association with The University of Qld.
Donations can be made online at Australian Geographic or in any Australian Geographic store. Cute Mary River turtle magnets are only available in store.
